What’s Your Favorite “SECRET” Family Recipe?
Every family has a few recipes that they cherish eating when the holidays come around and the family all gets together. My personal favorite growing up when I was little was when Grandma would come over and bring by her infamous Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were softer and more chocolatey and gooey than any other chocolate chip cookie I had eaten and I couldn’t get enough.
But you want to know the real kicker?
I found out twenty years later that her “infamous” recipe was just the Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe on the back of the package!
It turns out that many of our favorite recipes that we see our parents or grandparents making by heart all these years were recipes they found on the back of packaging or that was handed out in department stores or with new appliances they bought.

Auntie’s Meatloaf
Ingredients:
½ onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 ½ green bell pepper, chopped
2lbs ground beef
3tbsp ketchup
2tbsp grated horseradish
1 ½ slices white bread (soak in milk, squeeze dry and rip into small pieces)
1tsp beef bouillon
1tbsp parsley
1 egg
salt & pepper
1. Saute vegetables until tender. Let vegetables cool.
2. Place beef in large bowl. Add all ingredients to beef and mix well.
3. Line a bread/meatloaf baking pan with aluminum foil. Shape mixture into pan.
4. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Then lower temperature of oven to 375 and bake for 10 minutes. Lower the temperature again to 350 and bake until done, about 50 minutes.
